Is RA dead?

  1. 11 months ago

Didn't play for some time now. I knew there are way more bots (e.g. monk bots) than before, but is this normal?

    RIP random arenas

  2. da waaw alts. rly annoying :/

  3. I've been thinking on this for awhile, thought it was dead only on American hours but thanks to all those botting/syncing nerds I guess people that played RA for fun gave up.

  4. Yours truly <3

  5. I wouldn't mind bots that much if they actually sort of "played", just like in JQ. Then it'll be like a bit of PvE until more players arrive.

Sadly the only way to have some sort of fun in RA is to do a 2-men sync imo
Because if you don't you'll get either a bunch of PvEs, bots, alts or some guy with a SF build running around for 10 minutes.
3 or 4 men syncs are even more boring though since you're left with no competition and probably eventually no enemy cuz everyone just stops playing when they keep facing a 4/4
So I found 2 men syncing with some sort of funny builds to be a good compromise. Or some tryhard builds to kick the current sync/bot team lol

  7. zurrie is always spamming ally chat to sync enter RA, hit him up

    if you're desperate

  8. Those syncers could also make an alliance and play 4v4 there with their own rules and bots. /sigh

Speaking of Zurrie wanting to play RA, I was in two RA sessions today with Zurrie, first one he was AFK or something and we lost.
Second one started quite well, we won a few matches, then our lsurge ele kept dying and Zurrie flamed him/her, called him/her a moron (spammed that many times) and blamed the ele for the loss.
While the ele did some stuff wrong[1], perhaps a different approach might be better to encourage people to keep playing RA. After all where else can noobs and crap players like me do GW1 PvP nowadays?
In another RA session some weeks ago, after some wins, Zurrie asked us if we wanted to do GvG (was going to be AT C), and that he was going to leave soon. We said no, and after our next win I asked if he was going to leave soon (to do AT C). Instead he left just before timer and the next match was us 3 vs 4... Of course since he was the healer we'd probably still have lost anyway.
[1] Our monk also said after match the ele didn't kite enough. Before our loss, Zurrie also said that ele's build was bad, not enough energy - IIRC it was lsurge, chain lightning, lstrike, blinding flash, gale, air attunement and protectors defense and res, and zurrie said should take out blind and run aura of restoration instead. The other ele died at least once in prev matches too.
The match we lost was us with monk + 2 x ele + zurrie lyssa derv vs derv + war + ranger + monk. And unfortunately it was the scoring map. We were leading at first and getting kills (2 or 3 on their warrior interestingly, so we did have enough damage at the start). But then the other ele started getting killed while our monk was getting stuff like debilitating shot, so soon our monk died too...

I can imagine an air bar with fire attunement probably won't have all that much energy :D

I completely agree with what you're saying. I too dislike such behaviour, but it's been there for ages unfortunately. I do think that out of the players on this forums, zurrie is one of the very few to act that way.

I personally try to not discourage less good players from RA by simply not reporting them for leeching or calling them out that way on mistakes, which I think, again, goes for most players here. Occassionaly I drop a PM (e.g. when the team shouted at him like Zurrie did in a similar situation) to give a small hint/tip, but I feel it often does not go appreciated.

  13. Oops it was Air Attunement. I'll correct it.

Lol, that mustve been vs my team. Good thing your mo was pnh, else I we wouldn't have broken through all those layers of defense in this millennium (multiple stances on monk and eles, bflash (or two), and a pve derv with mirrage and cripple sitting on our hammer). Ez as pie if you got a pod nec, and almost impossible to kill if your team is heavy melee/non-caster.
Other than that, what you wrote is pretty much zura in a nutshell. Either afk or flame others or get carried by his team.

  15. just need some rupts, other than that zurrie is pretty much braindead facerolling and camping 1 target whole match. But yes facerolling takes practice, tried it once and i moved everywhere i didnt want to go to.

@Ishtli Lol, that mustve been vs my team. .

Good game! I quite enjoyed that match even though we lost.

Anyway, if people really want to keep playing with and vs actual people they need to realize that doing stuff that discourages people from playing isn't going to help.

Yeah it'll be good if people learned to play better. But calling people moron isn't a good way of playing either.
Dictionary says: "Verb: engage in activity for enjoyment and recreation rather than a serious or practical purpose.".
So yeah learn to _play_ ;). If you really learned to play, you wouldn't go that nuts just because you're losing a match in GW1. Not like there's a million in prize money and millions of spectators watching (even so you may still want to put on a sponsor-friendly and fan-friendly front, do/say the wrong thing and the sponsors may drop you).

As for those using bots, why don't you stop wasting time, skip the crap and just get some bots to praise you? Since that's all you are going to have when the humans are gone. Anet may shut the game down before you get your titles or whatever- the fewer real players there are = the less bad PR for them. Even if they don't and you get your titles who else will be around to see them or care? Your bots? So like I said, just get your bots to praise you.

Same for DDoSing. I know many psychopaths do stuff for the sense of power, but how much sense of power can you get from this? Wow, you manage to kick some players off a half-dead game with crappy network code. It's not even deserving of a fail video. Maybe it's more notable than DDoSing the home page of some primary/elementary school's computer club in Whereistan... But such computer clubs may even have more people than a GW1 MAT nowadays... :P

I agree with everything you said, outside the part calling GW 'GW1'. That's wrong on so many levels...
Also, the bot alt farming is for rl money exchanges, no doubt.

  19. @Ishtli Other than that, what you wrote is pretty much zura in a nutshell. Either afk or flame others or get carried by his team.

You're a moron, I carry any team I am on, if they are carryable. Hence why I am the highest rank in the game. People rushing in and dying for no reason is something that needs to be given attention. It's 2016 and people still don't understand to look at the mini-map constantly, plus so many other basics. Expressing outrage is healthy and it also increases the level of the game. People learn through the exchange, regardless if they get offended or want to remain ignorant at first.

@madian zurrie is pretty much braindead facerolling and camping 1 target whole match

You need to learn how to play. Camping 1 target is usually the best way to win. Pick the softest or most dangerous target that has a rez and put your entire team on it, over and over. Thus the other team's offense is being taken out as quickly as possible, reducing the chance that your team dies, and this way the other team is also unable to use one of their rezzes. If they have prots and you don't have removal, then of course you'll need to target swap. There are other intricacies as well, perhaps some day you'll listen to advanced tactics if you decide to learn the basics.

Lol that's exactly your problem. Learn the difference between playing in a team and whining like a baby.
